Even though the inflammation of acne has subsided, the tissues may not be fully repaired and acne scars may be formed. Scars related to acne are of many types according to the size and appearance. Scars with white-bluish color are less visible. This type of scars will mostly disappear within a few months. The large depressed scars on the skin are usually rough and are called depressed fibrotic scars. Some are slightly raised lesions similar to whiteheads and others are soft scars, either circular or linear in shape
Acne medication for the various types of scars mentioned above consists of topical drugs or oral medication. They are useful medications to clear acne. For severely inflamed acne cyst, dermatologists used to inject corticosteroid to treat the cyst and to prevent scarring. The corticosteroid injection melts the cyst within a period of 3 or 4 days. Oral antibiotic is used by the patients who have severe or moderate acne. Tetracycline reduces the inflammatory lesions. But this medicine should not be taken by the children who are below 8years because it will have an affect on the growth of the child and discolor their teeth. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should also avoid this medicine.
There are so many acne treatment options. One of them is natural acne treatment which is very simple and effective. At first, clean the face with luke warm water and apply lemon juice. You should apply sunscreen when you go out because lemon juice makes your skin photosensitive. It is very soothing to apply sandalwood paste and rose water on the affected area, and leave it applied overnight. Instead of rose water, you can use black gram paste. Juice of cucumber and honey or lemon juice also can treat acne scars. To build new skin cells and keep the skin glowing and plump, you have to drink at least 10 to 12 glasses of pure, filtered water daily.
