Back Pain is defined as the ache in the back that can occur due to bad posture, slip disc, pressure on back muscle, spondylolisthesis, twisting of the neck or back in a wrong way, pregnancy, or accident. It is one of the most common compliant of 90% people in the United States. It can come from the muscles, bones, nerves, joints or structures present in the spine of the human. It comprises of neck pain, upper back pain, lower back pain or tail bone pain. It can be acute or chronic depending on the severity of the pain. Acute back pain is due to an immediate injury, lasts for less than one month and can be healed after proper treatment, but chronic one lasts for years even after healing. It is necessary to take it seriously to avoid developing any complications.
When the back pain travels down the legs or into the foot, it causes serious disability or numbness leading to a problem called Sciatica. It leads to various other problems as it affects the other parts of the body – shoulder, neck, arm, head, abdomen, chest, pelvic, and legs resulting in pain in them. People are, therefore, advised to meet the doctor to know the type of back pain they are suffering from and get the right treatment.
The back pain treatment includes some of the home treatments such as lying on the bed and taking rest for one or two days, applying heated coconut oil or mustard oil mixed with a little Camphor on the effected area, keep pillows under chest and legs and lie on the stomach. It can also be treated by prescribed medicine from the doctors. Exercises are also recommended for fast recovery of back pain. Acupuncture also heals it but if the pain is chronic than surgery is also done. Person can also avoid back pain by sitting and standing straight and not lifting heavy items. Overweight individuals should lose weight to prevent back pain.
