Acne develops due to P. Acnes bacterium. White blood cells in our body are intended to eat the harmful bacteria and protect our body from external and internal injuries. This is termed as the body’s automatic defense system. White blood cells are fond of eating sugar. They prefer eating sugar to eating harmful bacteria. Therefore, when you increase your sugar intake, the WBCs would start eating the sugar rather than eating the disease causing bacteria. This would further allow P. Acnes to grow and appear pimples.
