Allergies
We observe that some people have abnormal reactions to normal and harmless situation and substances. This disorder is known as an allergy and the reaction is called an allergic reaction. The allergic reaction is caused by agents called as allergens which affect us during swallowing, inhaling or just touching. The allergens that usually cause the most problems are common house dust mites, pollen dust from plants, molds, animal fur, certain food items, insect bites, some medicines and climatic conditions. Some of the common symptoms of allergy are severe sneezing or coughing, watery eyes and nose, skin rashes and itching. Some people experience an allergic reaction after eating an ordinary thing as a chocolate and think they have become allergic to chocolate. An allergy to chocolate is very rare.
The fact is the reaction has been caused by an ingredient in the chocolate. It could be a case of allergies to cocoa butter which is used to make chocolates. The reactions can be found out by abstaining to eat the item for a period of time and then check if the reaction occurs when you re start eating the same. If allergies to cocoa butter persists, the solution is to eat only pure chocolates or avoid eating chocolates altogether.
Allergies to foods are not very common in children and very few children are affected. In most of the cases children tend to overcome this problem as they grow up and in most of the cases children food allergies gets cured on its own. It is better to avoid the food which causes the reaction in the child to avoid complications. Other common food allergies are caused by cow’s milk, products made from milk, eggs, wheat, Soya, Peanuts, corn and other food preservatives. The best way to treat and prevent the allergy is to note the product causing the reaction avoid eating the same.
