Post Laser Treatment Care - Some Simple Ways To Skin Care

There is some post laser treatment care you need to take for maintaining healthy and beautiful skin as well as for reducing any discomfort that you might be feeling. Laser treatment is fast becoming a good option for many medical procedures, as there is very little recovery time and the process in itself is very simple. The only problem that you might face is regarding the skin, it might feel raw, irritable, or a bit swollen.

Ways To Overcome The Discomfort

The discomfort that you may experience because of the treatment is very short lived, so don’t get worried. Just follow a few simple steps of post laser treatment care to get over it:
• If there is redness or swelling of skin, cold compresses work fine. You can dip a soft cloth in ice cold water and gently place it over affected area, change it when the need arises.
• Moisturize your skin between the treatments. Use simple moisturizing creams or lotions that suit your skin type. There is no need for an anti-bacterial cream; it will further dry out your skin.
• Drink plenty of water to keep your body and skin hydrated.
• Avoid harsh soaps and scrubbing on the area, instead use mild cleansers to clean the skin. The treated areas’ skin might start shedding after a few days, this is normal.
• If your beauty products have Retinols or Glycolic acids in them, discontinue the use for a few weeks. You must let your skin recover fully before returning back to normal skin care routine.
• In your post laser treatment care, avoid doing any shaving, waxing, tweezing, plucking, bleaching etc. on the affected area, as the skin is very sensitive there due to the treatment.
• After your laser treatment, it is necessary for you to avoid exposure of skin of the affected area to sunlight. Even miniscule exposure to the sun might darken your skin which will create problems when it comes to further treatments as darker skin gets to burn more during the treatment. If you must go out and get exposed to the sunlight, wear clothes that cover most of your skin and apply sunscreen of SPF 30 or more, very liberally.

Follow The Doctor’s Advice

After you have had your first laser treatment, your practitioner might call you for a check-up. In this visit, he/she will examine your skin to see how it has reacted to the treatment. You will be given specific post laser treatment advice by your practitioner regarding how to take care of your skin and what to use on it. Depending on the way your skin has reacted, your doctor will decide how to go ahead with the remaining treatment. If you have any further questions regarding the post procedure precautions, you can ask about that from your doctor. Don’t worry; it is not a serious problem. With little post laser treatment care and relevant knowledge, you can take good care of your skin after the treatment.
