There are some early signs of pregnancy that most pregnant women experience. However, the experience varies. Not everyone will experience all the symptoms. These symptoms might even vary from one pregnancy to another. So there are women who would experience morning sickness in their first pregnancy, but not in their second one, so on and so forth.
The Early Signs Of Pregnancy Include The Following -
Missed Period
One of the first signs of pregnancy is missing a period. If you have missed a period, you should immediately take a home pregnancy test or visit a doctor. However, it is also important to remember that there could be other reasons for missing a period. Sudden weight loss or gain, giving up birth control pills, stress, or illness could also cause you to miss a period.
Implantation Bleeding
When the fertilized egg burrows into the lining of the uterus, it will cause the blood vessels to break and this would cause spotting. This usually happens around 12 days after conception. Many women experience light to heavy spotting during this period. Many women mistake this for their regular period. Implantation bleeding is usually light pink to brown and does not look like the regular period discharge.
Sensitive Breasts
Two weeks after conception, your breasts would become more sensitive, fuller and heavier. They may also feel sore. In some women, the skin around the nipple becomes darker. These changes are due to hormonal changes taking place in your body.
Nausea
Commonly referred to as morning sickness; you might feel like vomiting any time of the day. You experience this nausea as early as two weeks after conception. Some women would experience it throughout their pregnancy, while others would be lucky to escape it altogether. The nausea is caused due to the raised levels of estrogen. Smelling something strong like perfume, spicy food or cigarette might cause nausea in pregnant women.
Urinating Frequently
If you are making frequent trips to the bathroom, you might be experiencing one of the early signs of pregnancy. When the uterus starts to expand it applies pressure on the bladder, thus causing frequent urination.
Constipation
This is one of the common early pregnancy symptoms. This is caused due to the increased level of progesterone, which causes the food to pass through slowly through the intestines. This leads to constipation, headache and back ache.
Bloating Of Abdomen
Hormonal changes taking place in your body might make you feel bloated. You might think that you are experiencing PMS; however, if you have missed your period and you feel bloated, chances are that you are pregnant.
Rise In Basal Body Temperature
If you are pregnant, you will see a rise in your basal body temperature, which refers to the temperature of your body when you wake up in the morning.
Mood Swings
The rush of hormones will cause frequent mood swings, which might leave your partner totally confused. You might feel happy one minute and crying the next moment.
Food Cravings
During early pregnancy, you will have strong cravings for certain foods. You might also develop aversion to certain foods that you liked earlier.
Fatigue
Feeling constantly tired is one of the early signs of pregnancy. Rise in progesterone level will make you feel sleepy all the time. Furthermore, lowering of blood pressure and blood sugar levels and increase in blood production cause fatigue in early pregnancy.
Dizziness
This is a classic symptom of early pregnancy. This is caused due to your blood vessels dilating, due to which your blood pressure drops and you feel dizzy or you even faint.
Understanding these common early signs of pregnancy can help a woman take better care of her self during her pregnancy period.
