Cut Down on Iodine: There is no ideal diet for acne as such but one must try to stay away from excess of iodine. It is advised to cut down on foods like iodized salt, beef, broccoli, cauliflower, chips and other such iodine rich food items.
Include fresh fruits and vegetables: Acne diet helps you to avoid pimples if you have a tendency to get those ugly spots. Eating everything in moderation can help you fight acne. If you combine your diet with regular exercise, then it will give better results. Fresh fruits and vegetables keep your skin moist and supple, discouraging popping of acne. Fruit and vegetable juices are a good source of vitamins, which are essential for the skin. You should include cucumber and tomato salads to your diet to hydrate your skin.
Vitamin A magic: Studies say that people with acne tend to have lower levels of Vitamin A; hence they should consume vitamin A rich food. Raw fish, liver oil, carrots, apricots, when consumed curb pimples and provide nutrition to the skin.
Wonders of Vitamin B: Foods like fish, whole wheat grain, milk, meat are rich in vitamin B-2 which helps to alleviate stress; one of the major reasons of acne. Vitamin B-3 rich foods help in circulation of blood and in correcting cholesterol levels. Vitamin B-3 is largely found in mushrooms, meat, green vegetables, eggs and milk.
Vitamin E for skin: It is an active antioxidant and helps fight against free radicals which tend to damage the body’s metabolism. Vitamin E rich foods include almonds, peanuts, sunflower and vegetable oils.
Zinc protection: Zinc is required in traces in the body for protection of the immune system. Zinc is present in eggs, nuts and whole grains.
Acne diet is very essential to have a clear skin. Apart from diet, one must not wash the face with mineral/tap water as it contains excessive minerals and chlorine which dehydrates the skin.
